Westport Harbor

by admin on December 8, 2011

Westport harbor is a lovely place to visit, especially by boat. As you cruise past Cockenoe Island  and enter the main channel Cedar Point Yacht Club will be on your left, with its large sailboat fleet. The outer harbor is a large bay with the main channel following the western shoreline. The waterfront homes along the harbor front are well worth gawking at (some really awesome homes) About halfway around the bay, is a small inlet, on your left, which shelters the Saugatuck Yacht Club . As you get into the inner harbor (Saugatuck River) you might need a bit more time to deal with the various bridges, especially if you plan a visit to the Mansion Clam House or Riverhouse  restaurants. If it’s near high tide you might even want to venture all the way to downtown at the Rt-1 bridge. As you leave the harbor, you might also want to cruise by The Inn At Longshore and The Longshore Sailing Schoolwhich are on the eastern side of the outer harbor/bay. Photo tour click here
