Things To Do….Visit The Mark Twain House in Hartford

by admin on December 31, 2011

Connecticut has many interesting period homes to visit and enjoy but I would put the Mark Twain house, in Hartford at the top of the list. The house is interesting for both its architecture and its former owner. When the house was built in the 1870’s, Hartford was one of the wealthiest cities in the world and Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) was an internationally known writer and celebrity. The house certainly reflects the owners wealth but more than that, it mirrors Mark Twains dreams of majestic river boating. Most anyone will enjoy a tour of the house and Mark Twain fans should also find the adjacent museum well worth a visit and if time permits you might also enjoy visiting the Harriet Beecher Stowe, which is just next-door  For more information on the Mark Twain house click
